She has since gained quite a reputation in the poker tournament world and has also become a close friend with fellow professional poker player Daniel Negreanu.
Jennifer attended and graduated from the University of Nevada, but her choice to become a professional poker player then caused a rift in her relationship with her father.
They spent several years estranged but have recently managed to overcome their differences. She is currently married to stylist Marco Traniello, who has now also has become a professional poker player. She and Marco have two twin boys.
She shares her health issues with both her mother and her sister who succumbed to the illness when Jennifer was just 17 years old.
She took a year off playing poker in 2004 to have her second kidney transplant which she received through a donation program. She then founded “Creating Organ Donation Awareness (CODA).
Jennifer went from cocktail waitress near-bankruptcy with serious health issues to professional poker player.
Jennifer now plays in the World Series of Poker game events and is currently the only woman to have won two bracelets in the WSOP open events.
Experience:
Jennifer won her first WSOP bracelet in 2000 playing the No Limit deuce to Seven Lowball Event. Her opponents included Lyle Bernan and Steve Zolotow. It was her very first time playing that game and she had only a few minute tutoring session with Howard Lederer prior to playing the event.
In 2002 Jennifer won her second WSOP bracelet at the $5K Limit Hold’em where her opponents at that time included Humberto Brenes and Allen Cunningham.
She has authored the “Limit Hold’em” chapter for “Super System II” and boasts the position of being the only female who plays regularly in the “Big Game”, the biggest cash games played at the Bellagio.
Jennifer has also been a participant with “The Corporation”, a team of high stakes players for limits of up to $200,000, and won $9 million for them against Andy Beal. She has also appeared on “High Stakes Poker” the GSN series and on “Poker After Dark” on NBC, where she was victorious in the tournament in week eight. She is currently a member of the “Team Full Tilt” at Full Tilt Poker.
Jennifer returned to the poker tournament circuit, finishing 4th place in the World Poker tour five-Diamond World Poker Classic, and 5th place in the inaugural Professional Poker tour event, and then 2nd place in the WSOP Circuit Championship Event at the Rio. In 2007, Jennifer placed runner up in the World Series of Poker Europe. Thomas Bihl beat her in the HORSE event.
