 Multi Tabling Pitfalls Part 2
In our first part of this series, we discussed how being speculative and chasing bad draws can destroy your poker bankroll in short order when multi-tabling.

Now that you’ve made these adjustments to your game,

let’s discuss other leaks that can devastate your bankroll when playing more than one table online.

The news/television/your buddy on IM can wait!

Quite simply, when you’re multi-tasking on anything, you can’t afford distractions.

While many multi-tasks are a product of being overworked and/or overloaded, multi-tabling is not.

Multi-tabling is a strategy to build your bankroll (i.e., make money),

Very few employers will tolerate this sort of behavior and moral issues aside; it’s still a distraction (fear of getting caught, email, etc) that can damage your bankroll.

Unless you’re able to tune out most outside influences, multi-tabling is likely a bad idea. This goes for children, significant other, pets, telephones, you name it.

This is extremely critical as you ramp up your multi-tabling game because it’s tough enough to follow the pace, much less carry on a phone or IM conversation during this period.

A few missed hands here, a miss-click there, and you’re down several BB’s before you know it.

There’s the even larger fear here of misreading a board and dropping a big pot. It’s happened to the author several times, so don’t say “it won’t happen to me”.

I’ve even folded a winning hand on the river to a bet because of distractions (verified later with Poker Tracker).

Trust me, there’s no worse feeling than knowing your gave your money to a fish on a weak bluff or weaker hand.

So we’ve discussed your opening hand strategy, and now we’ve talked about distractions.

In our next session, we’re going to talk about the basic mechanics and tools of the multi-tabler and how the greatest ones are earning a living doing this.
